JASON NAVARRO
Recruited from West Monroe, LA in 1994 as a tight end on the Tulane football team, left-handed Jason Navarro is one of the most successful pitchers in Tulane baseball history. Navarro's remarkable record of 23-2 during his two seasons with the Green Wave earned All- American honors both years, and in 1996 he posted a perfect 11-0 record which still stands as the best single season record in school history. Named to Collegiate Baseball's second team All-American squad as a sophomore, Navarro compiled an even more impressive season in 1997 when he went 12-2 with a 2.00ERA and 135 strikeouts. That year Navarro was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Year as well as a first team All-American, and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the Fifth round of the MLB Draft. Navarro's record of 23-2 is still tops in Tulane history.
Navarro has pitched for over ten years at the professional level, including time with the St. Louis Cardinals, Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and most recently pitched in 2009 in Monclova , MX in the Mexican League. Throughout his professional career Navarro held several impressive streaks including a 24 game streak in 2001 in AA New Haven without allowing an earned run. Currently Jason is an Associate Scout for the Boston Red Sox, and he and his family reside in River Ridge, LA and look forward to teaching and helping a new generation of athletes to reach their dreams.
